Problem description

The problem is the sizing of a bolt-coupling system in charge of transmitting a torque by pressing force ensured by a set of N bolts uniformly distributed on the circumference of a rim. It is a mixed problem implementing structural and behavioral relations on real and integer variables to be chosen in intervals or in enumerations.

The problem is limited to the consideration of the functional requirements for the static strength of the bonding system (material strength constraints on the bolts). We have added an additional degree of variability to this problem by leaving the type of materials of the system to be chosen from a table. Each material will thus have a specific density as well as a given environmental impact in the form of a singles core Eco indicator EI99. We also propose to give the possibility to express requirements regarding the cost and the mass of the system.

A full description of the adressed problem and of the related DEPS models is available in section 3. of [1]. According to a technological point of view people can have informations on this website.
